This is the story
of a little boy who is afraid to go to school. Why? Because he is being picked
on by a big bully. His fears seem very real until Milton’s grandfather
convinces him not to dwell on the past. That was “then,” he says. Worrying
about the future is just living in the “when.” Milton discovers that “now” is
the only time there really is. If you just are present in the moment (don’t
look back and don’t look ahead) there is nothing to fear.
Milton gets his
confidence back when he dreams he is at his favorite ice cream parlor and meets
a magical person in flowing robes called a “mystic.” Upon awakening, he truly
sees the light.
Do you have any
fears you’d like to overcome? If so, it’s time to uncover Milton’s secret…and
chase those fears away. After all, it’s just a story we tell ourselves.
“Milton’s Secret”
is written by a famous spiritual teacher called Eckhart Tolle. Maybe your
parents have read his book, “The Power of Now.” You and your family will love
the charming and colorful illustrations in this inspiring picture book.
